Diamond Aircraft announces name change for DA52

Diamond Aircraft decided to rename the DA52 to DA62. The DA62 series is Diamond’s newest twin engine product line, complementing the successful DA20, DA40 and DA42 series.

From Diamond: Diamond Aircraft decided to rename the DA52 to DA62. The DA62 series is Diamond’s newest twin engine product line, complementing the successful DA20, DA40 and DA42 series.

“We are renaming the DA52 to improve differentiation from our DA42 series that continues indefinitely in parallel production,” said Christian Dries, CEO of Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH. “The DA62 series is designed with significant growth potential and continues the upward expansion of Diamond’s piston aircraft offerings. It will compete well with conventional 6 seat single and twin engine piston aircraft and offers a great step-up alternative to owners of high performance 4 and 5 seat singles seeking more space and capability without sacrificing operating economics.”

The Diamond DA62 series builds on the strengths of the world’s bestselling twin piston aircraft, the DA42, with increased performance, payload, cabin volume and utility.

As with each of Diamond Aircraft lines that have evolved into several distinct models to suit specific market requirements, the DA62 will be offered with optional configurations, including seating capacities of up to 7 seats, and several MTOW versions of up to 2,300 kg.

The Diamond DA62 series will be powered by a growth version of Austro Engine’s popular AE300 jet fuel piston engine series.

Currently there are two prototypes flying and EASA type certification is expected in 2015.  Pricing and availability will be announced in future.

CTI Professional Flight Training Selects Diamond Aircraft

CTI Professional Flight Training has announced a major purchase agreement with Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc.

CTI Professional Flight Training selected the Diamond DA20-C1 as its primary trainer and the Austro Engine-powered DA42 as its complex, multi-engine trainer. Diamond Regional Distribution Centre Premier Aircraft Sales of Fort Lauderdale, Florida negotiated the agreement which includes training, support and acquisition of a fleet of 22 aircraft plus ten options with a total value of USD 7.8 million.

CTI President and CEO, Alan Mullen, states: “We looked carefully at all competitors in the marketplace; at the end of the day Diamond’s safety record, low operating costs, modern design, training effectiveness and excellent customer service and warranty support left no rational alternative. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Diamond Aircraft and Premier as we execute our aggressive business plan.”

Premier Vice President of Piston Sales, Jeff Owen, added: “Premier is proud to have arranged this fleet purchase. CTI’s selection of the most modern, safe and cost effective flight training aircraft available, coupled with their unique capabilities, positions them to be amongst the most successful flight training academies in the nation.”

Following the successful acquisition of Professional Flight Training, LLC in the spring of 2014, CTI’s flight academy operations are being conducted by its wholly owned subsidiary, CTI Professional Flight Training, located in Fort Lauderdale. New operations are scheduled to commence at CTI’s facilities in Millington, TN in the summer of 2014.

The new diesel twin-engine Diamond DA42-VI headlined the Diamond Aircraft display at Sun ‘n Fun last April 21-26 in Lakeland, Florida.

According to Jeff Owen, V.P. Piston Sales for Premier Aircraft Sales, Inc. (Diamond’s southeastern distributor and show host), the highlight of this year’s booth is the Diamond DA42-VI, a category-dominating performer in such metrics as useful load, cruise speed, takeoff roll and fuel burn.

Summer was particularly hot this year. Blistering hot. Through it all we stayed COOL!

Here at LifeStyle Aviation we were busy trying out an all new, all electric air conditioning system developed for our Diamond DA42 for Sale. We liked it so much we are now pleased to begin offering it immediately as an upgrade option on all our used Diamond DA42 aircraft for all our clients.

We’ve been offering AC on our DA40 for sale for years and were able to offer Air Conditioning on our New DA42’s for some time but everyone looking at used DA42’s were dependent on high altitudes to cool off. Now we can offer a cool twin ride on the ground or in the air for all buyers.

The system is “all electric” which means there is no engine driven compressor. The system incorporates an electric motor that drives the compressor. The two main alternators drive the system so there is no need for an extra alternator either.

The mechanism lives in the back small “extra boot” area of the 4-way baggage compartment. That area is not used much and is weight limited anyway so its not much of a sacrifice for the value the cool air brings to flying and traveling enjoyment.

Another great thing about this system is it’s only 53 pounds total! That’s fantastic and some of the best numbers we’ve seen. The air blows cool and strong and the controller, located on the pilot side map pocket area is a membrane digital controller that is simple, easy to use and works well. The best part, it comes on at the same setting you used the last time so we can just leave it to full blast and push the on off button.

We have been enjoying air conditioning in our Diamond DA40’s for many years now and have become fully addicted. For those of you that have not enjoyed having an air conditioner on your aircraft let me simply say this…once you have one you’ll never go back. We find AC great for clearing the cabin of moisture during those muggy days when you pile in and the crew fogs up the inside with condensation. This is true in the winter too!

Also for plowing through clouds IFR the AC unit makes the humidity levels much more comfortable. We are confident our clients will enjoy this great new system.

Our DA42 for sale, is an an all weather ultra safe, efficient personal traveling machine. We are enjoying flying the Diamond DA42 – N503TS we have for sale.
It has a host of features including Synthetic Vision, TKS, Active Traffic, Jepp Geo Referenced Plates and the all New STC for Air Conditioning that works great.  N503TS has Garmin Synthetic Vision and this video shows will walk you through the aircraft including the non-SVT screens but other than that it provides an amazingly realistic visual of what its like to fly a DA42 like N503TS.

As more and more of our clients have been calling to ask about their ADS-B upgrade path we’ve been handing out “patience pills” encouraging our G1000 clients to wait to see what other developments come along before the 2020 mandate deadline. We are very pleased to announce the wait is over for our Diamond clients. Your ADS-B upgrade path has arrived and its very exciting. Diamond today announced collaboration with Garmin to roll out the GTX-345 series of ADS-B transponders that offers a feature rich ADS-B In and Out solution for all Diamond aircraft versions. This approach will provide more than just compliance for a good price but include viable dual band traffic and weather display features. The company is making the new transponders and Garmin’s Electronic Stability & Protection System (ESP) standard on all new 2016 DA40 XLT aircraft and the full line of planes. This is a tremendously exciting development for us as we have been hoping for this for several years. The GTX 345 is a new Garmin product that is just being released and as of today is not even in the hands of the avionics shops yet. Diamond Aircraft Announces Electronic Stability Protection System and ADS-B In/Out As Standard Equipment For New Production DA40 XLT. Diamond’s Lycoming IO360 powered 2016 DA40XLT is equipped with a long list of standard features and equipment that now also includes GARMIN’s Electronic Stability & Protection System and GARMIN’s new ADS-B In/Out and Mode S GTX-345R Transponder.

(Canada) will be equipping all newly ordered US registered DA20, DA40, DA42 and DA62 aircraft with standard ADS-B IN /OUT GARMIN 345 series Transponders. All, GARMIN’s STC for installation of the GTX335 and 345 series transponders provides affordable FAA mandate compliant retrofit solutions to all owners of US registered Diamond aircraft, regardless of vintage and equipment and if their airplane is WAAS GPS equipped or not. 

Depending on the installed equipment and software configuration of the existing aircraft, the GTX-345 and GTX-345R (Remote) will display enhanced traffic information and subscription free weather information on the MFD and SVT enabled PFD’s. Additionally, regardless of whether the existing aircraft is equipped with WAAS or not, the GTX345 with GPS will not only met the FAA’s 2020 ADS-B mandate, it will also enable the display of ADS-B traffic, subscription-free weather, GPS position data and back-up attitude information within popular apps such as Garmin Pilot and ForeFlight Mobile via Connext® wireless technology, on suitable mobile devices.
